WHY GROW MICROGREENS?

Microgreens are becoming so popular not only for their nutrition and health benefits. They also add exciting new flavours and textures to make your dishes look amazing: garnishes, salads, sandwiches, juices or smoothies.

Growing microgreens is possibly the quickest and easiest way to turn your gardening skills into profit because it requires little space (indoors or outdoors) and they are harvestable in a short time – most varieties within 10 to 20 days.

Microgreens can be sold directly to individuals or to local grocers, cafes and restaurants.

We wish you lots of fun and profit for your microgreen adventure!

fully stackable microgreen trays

FULLY STACKABLE

Our plastic trays have been designed to stack fully: base against base with no gap between them. When stacked each tray adds 7mm to the total height.

The main benefit of this is that you can put a Drip Tray (WITHOUT drainage holes) with water under your Microgreen Tray (WITH drainage holes) and know it won’t drip when watered.

Storage and shipping costs are kept low as couriers take volume into account.

SAFE

Our plastic trays are made of food grade BPA free plastic, making them completely safe for growing ready-to-eat food, like microgreens and fodder.

The trays are also UV resistant, so they won’t become brittle after being in the sun. However we recommend you keep them in the shade to extend their usable life as much as possible.

STRONG

Our plastic trays are injection molded. This makes them a lot stronger than most of the microgreen trays, which are usually vacuum formed, available in the market.

Additionally, we have added a reinforcing grid in the bottom of our trays that makes them even stronger and prevents them from folding or twisting when they are full of soil, seedlings and/or water. No accidents will occur because of a poor quality tray!

We have tested our trays and they can support up to 21kg when holding them with both hands. To get best results you need to look after them. But you can be sure these are good quality trays you can potentially use for many years.

TESTIMONIAL

I have a small market garden producing a high value salad mix. Management of the field crops, perennials, microgreens and herbs is intensive, so I streamline procedures and invest in the best equipment possible. Curly’s Ag plastic trays are some of our most handled tools – the fill/seed/stack/grow/harvest/wash/stack routine is rough, but I haven’t broken one yet. They feel good to use, are stiff, lightweight, drain well, and are the right depth for microgreens. The best trays I have used by a mile. I urge you not to waste your time and money trying anything else. Curly’s Ag service is best by a mile too!

Do you have trays in stock?

Yes, we always keep our full range of microgreen trays in stock. So, you are safe to order online now.

How long until you ship them?

We usually dispatch all our shipments every Monday and Thursday. That makes a handling time of 1 to 3 days, depending on when you ordered.

Are your trays the same as the ‘1020 trays’ or ‘1020 flats’?

No. The 1020 flats are so called for their dimensions; that is approximately 10 inches wide by 20 inches long (Approx. 25x50cm). Our trays are slightly bigger being 31.2 cm wide by 58.8 cm long. Click here to see our tray’s exact dimensions.

What else is different about the shape of your trays?

Shallow and stackable.

Most trays out there are 2 to 2.5 inches / 5.1 to 6.4 centimetres deep. Our trays are shallow trays: 1.5 inches / 3.7cm deep, which has many benefits like reducing the amount of soil needed (thus saving you money in the long run), and allowing better airflow across the base of your microgreen plants, which is often where the mould and the fungus problems happen. Moreover, when harvesting from our shallow tray you are able to get closer to the base of the plants which means higher yield as well as easier and quicker harvesting.

Our trays are also fully stackable which makes them easier to transport and store, as they take a lot less space in your farm.

Why should I invest in higher quality – more expensive trays, instead of buying cheaper microgreen trays?

Cheap – poor quality trays can cause many problems. Most of them sag down in the centre of the tray, which accumulates more water in that area. This irregular watering makes very difficult to grow quality microgreens. They also break very easily meaning that you will have to replace them again and again.

Our higher quality trays are injection moulded making them stronger than the usual vacuum formed trays out there. We also have a reinforced grid in the bottom of our trays making them even stronger and preventing them from folding and twisting when full of soil.

Are your microgreen trays reusable?

Yes, because of the durability and strength of our trays, they are 100% reusable, meaning that they are an asset to your business not a consumable. Once you purchase our trays, they will keep making you money again and again.

Our higher quality trays are injection moulded making them stronger than the usual vacuum formed trays out there. We also have a reinforced grid in the bottom of our trays making them even stronger and preventing them from folding and twisting when full of soil.

What are your trays made out of?

Our trays are made out of recyclable food grade BPA free plastic and are UV resistant.

Do I need to clean my microgreen trays in between uses?

It is a good idea to clean your trays after you have harvested your microgreens and before you plant your next crop on them, specially if you have had mould or fungus problems. This will prevent your next crop to get infected from residue that could still remain in your tray. We recommend using a food grade hydrogen peroxide mixed with water and vinegar, this will disinfect and clean them.

Can I use paper pots with your Microgreen trays?

100% yes, however you will need some extra tools like opening rods, opening frame and seeder.

Do you sell your trays overseas?

Yes. The automatic checkout on our website allows New Zealand customers to choose shipping options from our Australian warehouse, and American and Canadian customers from our US warehouse.

If you are from another country and would like to purchase our trays, contact us and we will be happy to get a shipping quote for you.

Is your microgreen seeder the same as the paper pot seeder?

Yes. Our seeder was originally manufactured for the paper pot system and the holes match the paper pot cell’s grid. The only difference is that for microgreens we use an 8mm diameter hole, which holds many microgreen seeds on each hole. So, if you get the seeder, you have the benefit of being able to use it for both purposes just by changing the seeder blank, which are available here.
